Fertilizer increases growth, color, thickness, vigor, and is essential for having a dark, rich, healthy looking lawn. Pro Lawn Care typically applies four high quality fertilizer applications per year – spring, early summer, late summer, and fall. A fertilizer with the appropriate mixture of ingredients is applied to the lawn based upon on its’ needs and weather conditions. Pro Lawn Care is licensed and certified by the Illinois Department of Agriculture for herbicide and pesticide applications.
Controlling weeds are an essential part of having a healthy and beautiful lawn. Generally, Pro Lawn Care applies a pre-emergent weed application in early spring with the fertilizer. Spot spraying is the desired method of killing and eliminating weeds if possible. If there is an excessive amount of weeds that are problematic, then a liquid post-emergent application will be applied to the entire lawn.
Aerating is the process of removing “soil logs” from the ground, leaving holes in the lawn. These holes are typically 1 to 3 inches deep and have anywhere from eight to sixteen holes within a square foot.
There are many benefits to aeration, such as:
Soil pH levels become too acidic (low pH) or alkaline (high pH), where nutrients present in the soil become inaccessible. Pro Lawn Care recommends a soil analysis first performed to determine the pH levels. Lime is then applied accordingly to the soil in the necessary amount to neutralize the pH levels if they’re low.
